About Britrip

  • When you book an accommodation, flight or attraction, Britrip provides and is responsible for the platform, but not the travel experience itself
  • When you book a rental car, private or public transport, Britrip is responsible for the platform, but not the travel experience itself.
  • We work with companies that provide local support services (such as customer support or account management), and they do not:

  1. Control or operate our platform
  2. Own their platform
  3. Have any legal or contractual relationship with you
  4. Provide travel experiences
  5. Represent us, enter into contracts or accept legal documents on our behalf
  6. Act as our “operating or service agents”

Prices

  1. When you make a booking, you agree to pay the cost of the travel experience, including any applicable fees and taxes.
  2. Some prices you see may have been rounded up to the nearest whole number. The price you pay will be based on the original “unrounded” price (although the actual difference will be minimal anyway).
  3. A crossed-out price refers to a similar booking price without a price reduction applied (“similar” means same dates, same policies, the same quality of accommodation/vehicle/travel class, etc.).

Payment

1. For some products - services, the service provider will require prepayment and/or payment during your travel experience.

  • If we arrange your payments, we (or in some cases, our affiliate) will be responsible for managing your payments and ensuring that your transaction with our service provider is completed. In this case, your payment constitutes the final settlement of the price “due and payable”.
  • If the service provider charges you, this will usually be in person at the start of your travel experience, but may also (for example) be charged to your credit card when you book, or paid at check out from your accommodation. This will depend on the service provider’s prepayment policy as communicated to you during the booking process.

2. If the service provider requires prepayment, payment may be taken or pre-authorized when you make your booking and may be non-refundable. So before you make a booking, please review the service provider’s “Prepayment” policy (available during the booking process), which we have no influence over and are not responsible for. This does not affect your rights if you have any issues with your travel experience.

3. If your payment instrument is denominated in a different currency* to the payment currency, your bank or payment instrument provider (or their payment service providers) may charge you additional fees. For example, this could happen if your credit card is in Euros but the hotel charges you in US dollars. If this happens, we will notify you during the booking process.

4. If you become aware of or suspect any fraudulent behavior or unauthorized use of your payment instrument, please contact your payment instrument provider as soon as possible.

5. If the currency specified on the platform is not the same as the service provider’s currency, you may:

  • We display prices in your currency
  • We offer you the option to “Pay in your currency”.

“Pay in your currency”. We (and/or one of our affiliates) may provide you with the ability to pay for your booking in your currency (“Your country currency”), based on your location and/or your account setup, and in connection with this service only, we do so as principal and not agent of the service provider. When you use this service, you agree to the following terms, which are separate from your contract with the service provider for your travel experience. The service provider is not involved in providing the pay in your currency service and is not a party to the following terms, which do not give you any additional rights under your contract with the service provider. If you choose to pay in the service provider’s currency, the following terms will not apply.

For the avoidance of doubt, when you use the pay in your currency service, we are simply enabling you to make payments in your currency while ensuring that the service provider receives payment in its local currency. As such, you do not pay in one currency and receive in another.

If you choose to use the pay in your currency service, all fees we charge for using the pay in your currency service are either included in the exchange rate or shown as a separate item during the checkout process.

The exchange rate is determined at the time the estimated total is displayed during the checkout process and, where applicable, the total price displayed will be the amount we will charge you. However, for clarity only, some fees that form part of the total price displayed will be charged directly by the service provider. We will inform you during the checkout process when this is the case.

6. If you cancel a booking within any permitted cancellation period that may apply, we will refund the same amount that we initially charged you (including any applicable fees in connection with the pay in your currency service).

7. We will store your payment method details for future transactions with your consent.

Policies

1. When you make a booking, you accept the applicable policies as displayed during the booking process.

2. If you cancel a booking or do not show up, any cancellation/no-show fees and any refund will depend on the service provider’s cancellation/no-show policy.

3. Some bookings cannot be canceled free of charge, while others can be canceled free of charge before a certain deadline.

4. If you book an experience with pre-payment (including all price components and/or a damage deposit, if applicable), the service provider may cancel the booking without notice if it is unable to collect the balance by the specified date.

5. If the service provider cancels, any refund of non-refundable payments made by you will be at its sole discretion.

6. It is your responsibility to ensure that payment is made on time (that your bank, debit or credit card details are correct, and that sufficient funds are available in your account).

7. If you believe you will not arrive on time, please contact your service provider and advise them of your expected arrival time. It is your responsibility to ensure that you arrive on time and if you do not, we are not responsible for any costs associated with this (such as cancellation of your booking, or any fees that may be imposed by the service provider).

8. As the person making the booking, you are responsible for the actions and conduct (about the travel experience) of each individual in the group. You are also responsible for obtaining their permission before providing us with their data

How do we handle errors if they occur?

1. If you have a query or complaint, please contact our customer service team. You can do this by accessing your booking, through our app, or through our help centre (where you will also find some helpful FAQs). You can help us to help you as quickly as possible by providing:

  • Your booking confirmation number, your contact details, your Britrip PIN (if you have one), and the email address you used when making your booking

  • A written summary of the issue, including how you would like us to help you

  • Including any supporting documentation (bank statements, photos, receipts, etc.)

2. All queries and complaints are recorded, and the most urgent ones are dealt with as a top priority.

3. We try to resolve disputes with you directly and are not obliged to follow any alternative dispute resolution procedures followed by independent service providers.

Contractual relationship

1. When you make (or request) a “booking”, this will be done directly with the “service provider”, and we are not a “contractual party” to it.

2. Britrip owns and operates the “platform”.

3. Our “platform” only displays “accommodations” with which we have a commercial relationship (in some cases, through a partner company, or with our “link providers”), and does not necessarily display all of their products or services.

4. Information about the “service providers” (e.g., facilities, house rules, sustainability measures) and their “travel experiences” (e.g., prices, availability, cancellation policies) is based on what they provide to us.

What we will do

1. We provide the platform through which service providers can promote and sell their accommodations, and through which you can search, compare and book them. We provide a personalized experience based on how you use our platform (including what you tell us) so that you can book your ideal accommodation with us. Our platform allows you to explore accommodations around the world, and our search results make it easier to find the right place for you.

2. When you book your chosen accommodation, we will confirm the details of your booking to you and the service provider, including the names of the guest(s).

3. Subject to the terms of your booking, you may be able to change or cancel it if you wish. Please contact us via our help centre (available 24 hours a day) if you need any assistance.

What you need to do

1. Fill in all your contact details correctly, so that we and/or the service provider can provide you with information about your booking and, if necessary, contact you.

2. Read these terms and conditions carefully and the conditions displayed during the booking process.

3. Take care of the accommodation, its furniture, fixtures, electronics and other contents, and leave things in the same condition as they were when you arrived there. If anything is broken, damaged or missing, be sure to inform the staff there (as soon as possible, and certainly before check-out).

4. Keep the accommodation and its contents safe during your stay. For example, keep the doors locked and keep your accommodation clean

Availability

We do not warrant that our platform will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or free from errors or viruses, nor that the platform will be free from errors or omissions.

We will not be liable for any delay or failure in performance resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including without limitation any failure to perform due to unforeseen circumstances or cause beyond our control such as war, terrorism, riots, embargoes, acts of civil or military authorities, fires, floods, accidents, strikes, epidemics or other natural disasters, shortages of transportation facilities, fuel, energy, labor or materials, or failure of public or private telecommunications networks

Dispute resolution

Britrip is committed to customer satisfaction, so if you have a problem or dispute, we will try to resolve your concerns. However, if we are unsuccessful, you may pursue claims as described in this section.

You agree to allow us to resolve any disputes or claims relating in any way to the platform, any interactions with our customer service agents, any services or products provided, any statements we make, or our privacy policy (“Claims”) by contacting our customer support center. If we are unable to resolve your claims within 60 days, you may seek relief through arbitration or in small claims court, as set forth below.

All claims will be resolved by binding arbitration, rather than in court, except that you may bring claims individually in small claims court if they qualify. This includes any claims you bring against us or our affiliates. This also includes any claims that arose before you accepted these terms, regardless of whether prior versions of the terms required arbitration.

There is no judge or jury in arbitration, and court review of an arbitration award is limited. However, an arbitrator can award on an individual basis the same damages and relief as a court (including statutory damages, attorneys' fees, and costs), and must follow and enforce these terms as a court would. Any proceedings to resolve claims will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action.

General

Our performance of these terms is subject to existing laws and legal processes, and nothing contained in these terms limits our right to comply with law enforcement, governmental or other legal requests or requirements relating to your use of our platform or information provided to or gathered by us in connection with such use.

These Terms do not create or imply any rights enforceable by any person who is not a party to them.

If any part of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, the validity, legality and enforceability of the remaining provisions will not be affected or impaired in any way. Our failure or delay in enforcing any provision of these Terms at any time will not waive our right to enforce the same or any other provision of these Terms in the future.

The names of fictitious companies, products, people, characters and/or statements mentioned on the Platform are not intended to represent any real individual, company, product or event.

Britrip hereby disclaims any and all liability for any damages, losses, or consequences arising from the inability to book or travel due to legal, security, or personal reasons, including but not limited to: entry restrictions based on nationality, individual-specific security measures, pre-existing travel bans, expiration of travel documents, or any other causes. The client assumes full responsibility for any such circumstances, and Britrip shall not be held liable or accountable in any manner whatsoever.
